Joe Belli's Profile Pic

Hi, I'm Joe — a technology author and educator with a passion for making complex ideas approachable. My background spans web development, Linux systems, and technical writing, all shaped by years of hands-on experience in the industry. I believe technology should empower, not overwhelm, and my work is dedicated to helping people gain confidence in today's digital world.

For eleven years, I worked at Apple. Eight of those years, I guided customers of all levels to better understand and use their shiny, new Apple devices. That experience taught me the importance of clear, jargon-free communication and showed me the “aha” moments that come when someone finally feels at ease with technology. From there, I expanded into web development and Linux, drawn to the flexibility and creativity that open-source platforms provide.

Today, I channel that teaching spirit into writing. As a self-published technology author, I create books and articles on topics like Linux, web development, and online safety. My goal is to give readers practical tools, step-by-step guidance, and the confidence to explore technology on their own. Alongside my books, I also write a Substack newsletter where I share insights on technology, Gen X culture, and whatever else I find worth exploring.

Outside of technology, I bring the perspective of someone who grew up in the Gen X era — a time before GPS and smartphones, when we had to learn to navigate the world differently. That perspective fuels much of my curiosity about how technology has transformed our daily lives. When I'm not writing or experimenting with Linux, you'll probably find me listening to music, or spending time with my family.
